Maple sugar loaf

The most rustic product, also known as “country sugar,” the sugar loaf is maple sugar molded into a brick or other shape and left to set. It was once the best way to preserve maple sugar throughout the year.

Grated with a large knife, it adds an authentic taste and, at times, a crunchy touch atop any cake. It's a bit of an ancestor to granulated maple sugar.
